Applicant requirements
- All security employees of the Three Forks Regional Jail shall be at least 21 years of age.
- Control room operators must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must maintain a level of physical fitness that will allow employee to perform duties satisfactorily.
- Must pass all criminal and employment background checks.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment post offer drug test.
- Possess a valid Commonwealth of Kentucky motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Must have adequate computer skills.
- Employees may be assigned any job assignment at the Administrators discretion and shall be able to physically perform duties assigned.
Some duties of a Correctional Officer include, but are not limited to:
- Booking & Releasing inmates through a Jail management system.
- Providing security for the jail such as: performing scheduled and impromptu security checks, conducting cell and inmate searches, and preventing inmate escapes.
- Movement of inmates inside and outside of Jail.
- Enforcing state laws and Jail policies.
- Writing reports and giving verbal directives.
- Transporting inmates to the hospital or Doctor appointments.
- Passing of medication.
- Passing of meals.
- First aid treatment.
